The age where everything is recorded

We live in an age where the second you start shouting at somebody, or lose your cool and say something ridiculous, you can almost bet that somebody is either going to make a video of it on their phone or recording it in some way or other.  We have seen it recently with the owner of a basketball team in America who advised a mistress that he did not want to see her coming to his basket ball stadium with black men and her publication of that phone call has led to him being banned from the stadium he owns and banned from any involvement with basket ball.  It is obviously going to make it somewhat difficult for him to sell the team at top price because anybody who buys the team from him will know that although of course the team will have a value, the seller cannot afford to be incredibly difficult.

One of the problems these days is that people tend, when they plan to record an incident, to go goad people into losing their temper and it might very well be that what you say is later taken out of context.  I do not mean in any way to compare this to the basketball case, but the problem is that we all say things we sometimes regret, we all say things at times that are either nasty or inappropriate and which we don’t really mean.  In the past, you could apologise for saying it but now, before you know it, it will be on Twitter, Facebook and everywhere else and simply nobody will be interested in how sincere your apology is, the background to why you said what you said and once simply has to be so much more careful than ever before what you say – and it is not just what you say publicly or on social media – you will have to be careful about what you say to friends, or as in this case, to one’s mistress!

Today with the technology we have - we should be very careful what to say and of course to whom. But I still believe in trust to people around you.

I have to agree with Catherine, it can either be helpful or harmful. You should be careful of what you say to who, sometimes an innocent conversation can turn out to be a horrible confrontation.

Its always been this way do not trust anyone, and be careful what you do or say... Even if it might be harmless, opinions differ.

Honestly, I thank man for this recording technology stuff. It just shows that NOBODY can be trusted, whether it be the person recording the information for someone or the person being recorded!

This just goes to show that you have to count your words everyday and be careful what you say and especially around who you say it.

Recordings can be either helpful or harmful. It can be used to bolster ones case or absolve one. Bottom line is one has to be very careful about what they say when and where.

Technology has really become so advanced now and when I look back at my childhood and what we had to make do with, I am in awe of how technology has soared to such heights in the last 10 years even. Recording of calls has its pro's and con's and in today's life it could be more con's than pro's and therefore is vital that you watch what you say when speaking to anybody because you could land yourself in a lot of trouble and on the other hand, a recording could end up saving you from getting into trouble as well. Its all about watching what you say when you say it.

I for one need to heed this advice as I can often say things that are taken up in the wrong way, and now that I know that I could be recorded, I will learn to speak carefully at the best of times.

I feel very sorry for the wife to have to find out that way,.These days there is no privacy.I agree with Kaylee ignorance really is bliss

I have "that friend" who loves to video record everything, reckon Ill be keeping her as a friend, keep your enemies close you know.
But seriously, I feel sorry for the wife, but sounds like there is more to the story, as usual the whole story seems to be taken out of context. Mind you if he was cheating he should probably should be exposed. But he could have been in an unhappy marriage. We don't know the facts, all there is, is a recording. I don't think technology is always the best, perhaps somethings should be kept under wraps. Reckon sometimes ignorance really is bliss

I think it is sometimes really useful to have technology all around us, yes no privacy but you cannot deny what is caught on camera or recorded, these days its not he said, she said anymore its hard evidence.

No loyalty among thieves it would appear. I suppose it shows you that her loyalties only went as far as what was paid for them. And in these days with the astronomical increase in smart devices and gadgets, one must think twice about any utterances. You no longer need to be James Bond with the budget and backing of MI6 to gather information.

Life is being improved every step of the way. There is always a better process of keeping records and information, it is only the format that is different.

This Blog can branch into so many different topics such as technology, privacy, freedom of speech, the list can go on.

But regarding this blog alone, I personally feel It's quite harsh, what he said and meant could be interpreted in two totally different ways. Not to mention the public humility of his wife and family.

I guess karma founds its way around, dirty pig, if he was not fooling around none of this would have happened.

That is really bad, yes like David said she will probably get more out of the settlement, but still can't help to feel sorry for her. I don't like the idea of being watched and recorded every day of my life, but like Stephanie said, in a your own business it is a must, to cover yourself.

Stephanie  said:

Shame I feel sorry for them. I don't think or believe any divorce can be easy. Like Juliet says privacy barely exists these days the same with trust. Who can we trust?

Interisting blog. I must say I've done the recording thing a few times, just to regret it later because you always hear something you dont want to, but in some Circumstances its a great thing, especially if you own a business.

His estranged wife thinks he has dementia and she wants him to give her the team. So don't feel sorry for her. It's a dog eat dog world. Unfortunately, privacy hardly exists anymore, unless you can afford it. I think the best thing to do is be a hermit and hopefully you will be safe (r).
