Webber Wentzels new offices

I know I have written about their offices before, but now that they are completed and the staff moved in there, I have to say that it is always impressive to see how big a law firm can be!  These are major multi-national corporations, dealing in mega millions of fees and certainly they would have to charge a fortune just to cover the costs of those very impressive offices at 90 Rivonia Road.  It is just across the road from Sandton City and Sandton Square and it is very impressive.  They have assisted me with legal work previously and I am rather keen to have a look inside the offices.

I have always felt, along with not expanding into other areas faster, that one of my big mistakes was not to move into bigger offices a long time ago.  The process of building my offices at 127 Jan Smuts Avenue was however so long and so slow that I guess I let it cloud the fact that by the time we moved into them, they were already too small.  We actually have not been in them for that long – it is about 5 or 6 years – although maybe some staff will correct me and tell me it is longer.  I could easily move to offices now of three times the 450 square metres or so that we have and if one was to redesign offices it gives one a lot more opportunity to add in more features such as a gym and more boardrooms, not to mention more space for staff to sit and much more rooms for files -  files in this particular field of work get very quickly very thick!

It is really amazing building. I read on the net that they have Featuring a ground floor plus six levels of offices and a shared facility on the seventh floor. I like the idea of the gym. I think a creche would be a nice idea.

The new office is stunning, it just shows you how far they have come and how hard they must have worked to build such a successful empire.

The building speaks of the mega millions of fees they are dealing with and it will be an injustice for a multi-national corporation to operate from a mediocre offices.

I am sure they did the maths and the new building was a well calculated decision before they began building or even making plans. Nice premises make a difference not only for clients but personnel as well.

I think that the location of the building is great-on a busy road in Sandton, visible to all, and an attention attracter.

I must say, all that our offices lack is more ladies toilets, a place to sit and eat our lunch and perhaps a little more storage space. Having said that though, I love the size of our offices - in huge offices as i have worked in before, one is just a number and hardly knows anyone else. Here we are like family and i love that kind of environment.

I think the design of their offices makes their offices look bigger and amazing

Your offices have been here for 9 years this year. Anyways I would love an office that offers a gym that would be great. If you could also put a crèche that would be a score too LOL. Apparently their offices are phenomenal I would also like to see them.

Did Webber Wentzel's "big idea" have aesthetic relevance? I think: Yes. Does the completed project tickle a person's intellectual sensibilities? I know: Yes. Has it instilled a sense of wonder? For me: It has.

Looking at the general consensus below, I question if people are willing to question their own truths? Are we willing to scrutinize the things we hold dear? Because it is only in this way, that transparency, that "self-awareness", will protect us from ever becoming somebody whose beliefs somehow make us have myopic vision about what could be.

Dont have myopic vision. Always "Dream BIG."

The outside looks amazing. In an area, although traffic will be a nightmare, that you have access to a few things if needing to do anything of the sort.I would love to see the inside just to check it out. Always been interested in looking in a few places you come across, even say Investec or Aon or even Discovery. The inner workings of a place have always fascinated me.

It must be nice to work at such a big place with lots of space to work with.
The office looks very modern and well designed. I think it will be nice to go have a look.
I wonder how much it cost a month for that big place.
Well done to them on being so successful.

I have seen pictures of the inside on a facebook page and it is extremely impressive to say the least. They have ample parking space, a gym and even sleeping pods for those all-nighters. With sleeping pods you definitely know alot of ones own personal time is spent at work to make up for the fees spent on the building! Only expected from one of the "big 5".

I must say, our Pretoria office is the best ever, I really cannot complain about anything. Juliet did a really good job to find us these offices.

Wow!!!Would love to see their offices on the inside, it must be very spacious for everyone to work in and I agree much more room for files especially in this field it's very important. And a bigger bonus is that they have a gym at work. Employees can go earlier to work to miss traffic and start their day fresh.

That looks stunning! I would love to see the inside. It is always great to have an office building you can be proud of. I am sure it costs them a fortune, but worth it. I would be very impressed if I was one of their clients.

I know the firm well as they are involved as defendant attorneys in many of our personal injury matters. The big fees lie in those commercial/merger/mining law projects where 5 legal professionals or more work on the project at the same time. A one hour consultation with 'the team' in one of those projects would cost tens of thousands of Rands.

I was told by one of the employees that each partner had to take quite a hefty bond out on their houses to help finance the new building. I love the look of the new building and the idea that it offers so much to it's employees. For example they can enjoy a gym session instead of the horrible traffic or even pop across to Sandton to do some shopping.

Juliet  said:

I wonder what they charge to cover their rent and expenses! Or maybe the volume of work is so substantial that even with an acceptable rate they are able to cover all of their costs and make an extensive profit.

Also wish they could have a Health Food Curter here as well, Making lunch is so irritating because at 06:00AM in the Morning is so boring.

Their new offices look amazing! Considering that one spends most of their time at work during the week, I think having spacious offices that are comfortable for employees is so important! I am sure walking into such fabulous offices every morning is a big motivating factor for many of their employees.

I would say those offices are lovely, enough space for staff members and luxury like having enough parking for everyone, place to eat and even EXERCISE! Dream place, I believe that one day we also get to the same level and will have these benefits. De Broglio Attorneys is the top company on the legal market and De Broglio staff need more space.

Wow looks amazing! But even their Cape Town offices are pretty amazing
Well they are considered as one of the"Big Five law firms" of leading South African law firms so they will have to live up to the standers. They have over 800 employees including 400 Attorneys so I can just think they need these amazing big offices to house all their employees

The offices include so many spectacular facilities because for many staff members - that is their home! The long hours that are required, it is only fair that there be that equipment.

That being said, I would love a gym in our offices! A healthy body equals a healthy mind.

Moreover, the parking facilities in that building must be tremendous :)

They are one of the most premier law firm in South Africa. It is one of the top 5 law firms of South Africa. They have a staff complement of approximately 800 people in our offices in Johannesburg and Cape Town. Our client base includes many of South Africaýs top 100 companies in energy & infrastructure, financial services, insurance, mining, oil & gas, transport, information technology and media & telecommunications.
