Mark Cuban – Shark Tank

Mark Cuban is the billionaire who appears on the CNBC TV show Shark Tank and I recently finished an abbreviated version of his book, “How to win at the sport of business”.  The one thing he did emphasise is that basically you don’t get anywhere without working hard.  To that end, he recommends reading, reading and more reading – something that I have always pushed my staff and everybody I know on.  As he says, talking about hard work, “Sweat equity is the most valuable equity there is.  Know your business and industry better than anyone else in the world.”

He goes on to say that you need to have staff who are as passionate about your business as you are and who are as keen to deliver top service as you are.  Without the client’s you cannot achieve anything and I do my very best to root out any staff in my office who I don’t believe are passionate, either about working or the job that they do.  I would like to believe that the vast majority of my staff, if not the overwhelming majority of my staff, are extremely motivated about the work they do in helping people whose lives, in some cases, have been devastated.  I am very proud of the team that I have and it is no wonder that staff who have worked at other firms, or have left us and returned to our firm, say that the quality of work that we do and the passion that our employees have for the work, simply cannot be matched at other firms.

The exact definition of "knowledge" has withstood centuries of philosophical assault, and I won't add to the fray. So, let's just say that for the purpose of building ones strengths, there are two distinct kinds of knowledge, and, in order to become an exceptional human being, we need both. Firstly, one needs factual knowledge. This is the content, protocols and procedures. The second kind of knowledge one requires is experiential, which isn't taught in classrooms or found in manuals or blogs, rather, it is something that one must discipline yourself along the way and retain. Every environment offers chances to learn, and, the development of skills. It often boils down to the employee's desire to grow, and, the employers willingness to cultivate an environment of growth.

The firm would not be where it is were it not for the hard work put in by the staff as well as the dedication to our clients. As mentioned below by Dune we are also very fortunate to have very advanced systems in place that allow us to do our job as well as we do.

Well the phrase hard work pays off. but only to some. i have seen people who work their fingers to the bone and not be successful. i would rather say hard work and smart work. We have a great team here at the firm

I must agree, the standards that De Broglio Attorneys Inc sets as a firm is exceptionally high. The manner in which client's are updated, the systems we have in place the constant reminders being sent out, just the way the business is run, makes a huge difference and that is why De Broglio is a top firm. I have seen how thing are done at other firms, and it is nothing compared to what we have here. One actually only realize how privileged we are with e-file, and the technology that we use at our firm after its gone and you have to go back to basics.

I agree that the key to success in anything is hard word and people surrounding you with the same vision as you. The staff also make a massive difference and having people with a great attitude and hard work ethic is the key to the company working.

I've watched this before, t's interesting to see how people do business. Without the client's there will not be any service to sell and no income. It's very important to have motivated staff the more motivated they are the more they will do for the firm.

Could not agree more with what the author is saying! I believe that if you are not passionate about your job, your life, your family and the well-being of your clients then you should just leave the work-place as you are no longer an asset to the company. Non-assets will always generate liability in any company or home

One definitely has to be passionate about your work. If you enjoy what you are doing, you will go the extra mile because it no longer feels like work. Look at people who have hobbies and how dedicated they are to their hobbies, why - because they are doing what they love doing and that love drives the passion in them to strive for bigger things.

I see this Line of work as away of helping people to handle something that's not there Fault. I enjoy what I do and I have a passion for it. You will never be able to achieve success in life if you sit back and do nothing. Never expect people to do things for you, rather do it yourself and you will know its done and the way you want. Its a bonus to have a great team of staff at your company it just make things easier.

Hard work is the pillar of success. 'You reap what you sow', if you sow a good company morale - staff will respond with a hard working attitude. I am grateful to be part of such a company!

One needs to have staff that are passionate, hard working and actually enjoy their jobs/duties and really want to make a difference. Without staff with passion and hard working ethic, there will be no success. It really makes a huge difference to be motivated and passionate, it then becomes not about doing a job but instead about making a difference.
