Winter Olympics

I am really enjoying watching the Winter Olympics in South Korea at the moment.  There are some sports I cannot relate to, but ice-skating is a beautiful, high pressure sport and it is tremendously exciting to watch the snowboarders.  Downhill skiing looks completely crazy and the fastest I have ever skied at is about 60km/h which to me was frighteningly fast so I am really amazed at these daredevils!  So many of the events are just more exciting or fun than the summer Olympics and I really enjoy watching them.  The Olympics are not on at times that really suit South Africans, but the repeats are well worth watching.  Are any of you are currently watching the Winter Olympics from PyeongChang.

Hard work always pays off. I love the figure skating myself. The balance, patience and practice is motivational.

I must admit I'm not a huge fan of the olympics either. I'm actually not a sport person and would occasionally what a rugby or cricket game but it does not hold my attention very long. I can imagine the skiing is quite interesting to watch and ice skating is really a beauty.

One word: Curling... The memes about this sport are legendary.
I haven't watched the Winter Olympics this time around but it really is interesting to see the different sports played around the world.

I far prefer the Winter Olympics to the Summer Olympics but have unfortunately missed out on most of the action so far. I'll have to keep a look out for some of the repeats because I don't want to miss out completely and it's always a memorable experience to watch.

I only watch the ice-skating, gymnastics and swimming in any Olympics. There are really some interesting sports that people participate in. Sometimes I find myself watching the heavy lifting sports just out of amazement that a human body can actually do such a thing.

I don't know much about ice- skating and I don't think ill know much about it anytime soon, with the way things are going I don't think most South Africans will partake on such sports, in South Africa you play soccer, rugby, tennis, cricket or nothing at all

Knowing the time and passion these sportsman have put into qualifying for the Olympics is admirable and every competition they're in, it truly shines through how much love they have for their sport. This obviously makes all that time and hard work worth it, I figure...

As a kid I use to love all the ice skating movies, I think its definitely a sport that isn't as easy as it looks. I really enjoy watching it because it looks so graceful. I've never really seen it in the actual Olympics but I can imagine it's way more exciting!

I've been watching some of the highlights and Curling is the funniest sport ever, it was the first time I’ve seen it although it is one of the oldest winter sports, it was so funny when they started to “sweep”.

I have never ever watched the Olympics be it the Summer or Winter Olympics. I was actually unaware it was currently on. If I had to choose to have to watch a bit though I suppose I would enjoy watching the figure skating.

I have never been a fan of watching any kind of Olympics and literally I am only interest in the Sevens rugby when it comes to the Olympics. I am sure it must be a delight to watch if you do enjoy it, as for me, I am counting down time to the 2018 Rugby World Cup and the 2018 Soccer World Cup - What a year it is going to be!

I always love watching Winter Olympics, this time watching beauty of South Korea as well. I missed some of the events but ice skating, ski jumping I want to see, DSTV sport is showing some of the events. I was reading article about the financing this types of events and 2016 report entitled "The Oxford Olympics Study 2016: Cost and Cost Overrun at the Games" found the Olympic Games held over the previous decade each have cost $8.9 billion on average. Factoring in only sports-related costs, the most expensive Summer Games were in London in 2012, which totaled $15 billion; the most costly Winter Games -- at $21.9 billion -- were in Sochi in 2012, according to the report.

I've been watching most of the highlights on Supersport. The ski jumps are amazing and the various combinations people do are amazing and at the same time look extremely dangerous. It's very impressive watching the winter Olympics from sunny South Africa because of our lack of exposure to winder sports and winter sport arenas.

It's amazing how hard they train and it really shows when they do their events. I honestly admire the hard work and determination as well as the discipline these athletes show. Not to mention the speeds they go, I don't think I have what it takes to do what they do.

Who would have thought that South Korea had such splendour and sheer beauty! Ice skating is a sport very close to my heart - My Grandfather, Arthur Apfel, was in fact the World's Fastest Ice Skating Spinner and his name can be found within the Ice Skating Hall of Fame in America!
