Blocking e-mails on Outlook with MimeCast

My IT expert recently installed MimeCast on our office server.  I must say, although I was not excited about it at first, it certainly helped to limit the number of the e-mails we receive on a daily basis.  I receive an extraordinary amount of nonsense and MimeCast will then ask me whether I want to let the e-mail through.   So, for example, on 16 July amongst the e-mail that I was asked to approve or decline was an e-mail from a company asking me to invest with the best managed company in South Africa, another one from Wanabi Wood Flooring, another one from the Attorneys South Africa Online Directory who want me to pay R1 600 a year to be listed with them as well as a company that wants to sell us quality platters for any function, meeting or private party.  I simply chose, on the system, to use MimeCast to block emails from all of these companies.  I do understand that people have to try to get business however they can, but it does get to a situation eventually where it is extremely difficult to deal with those sorts of things where I already get 300 e-mails a day!

It is indeed a very helpful thing to have on our system.

MimeCast is excellent in blocking most advertising emails, however, as a user of this system for a while now, I have noticed that it does not block certain spam emails. This poses a problem for me and maybe some others as an unknowing user can still allow an unsolicited mail though that has malicious links.

Would really like to install something like this on my personal email. There a lot of nonsens comes through. I don't even read my personal emails anymore because it's just unnecessary things which I did not ask for. I think it also minimizes the risk to get a virus.

I haven't really noticed much of a difference. I often get emails requesting for an email that has been blocked to be released. I suppose in that regard it is helpful.

Since the mimecast is installed so much less nonsense we receive in a day. Best thing that could have happened to our computers sometimes you don’t even give your email address but you will receive all sorts of emails and adverts.

Since Mimecast has been installed, I personally receive a lot less spam emails than before. It will be interesting to know of similar programs.

I suppose MimeCast is okay. I do not see the huge difference yet. I think I need to check it out properly when I have time.

I'm still adjusting to Mimecast, so far I'm not sure if I am impress but then again I don't receive a lot of unnecessary emails to filter through. But I like to option to block it if I don't want or need the emails.

I must say since mimecast has been installed on my PC its been heaven, I no longer receive spam emails, from all sorts of websites. I do not only receive my emails but 2 other previous employees as well and its frustrating when someone registers on different sites to get either their news letters or their specials etc. Mimecast just allows me now to block these emails which really helps in managing my inbox.

I think MimeCast limits unnecessary emails.

I agree that you need to double check the app to make sure important emails aren't blocked which can be irritating, but for some reason lately I get a daily pop up saying it is not connecting to my outlook which I guess means I have nothing to complain about since I'm receiving all my emails as usual. I never really received a lot of spam before nevertheless, the app doesn't really work on my computer.

I am still uncertain of this programme to be honest as I receive a lot more spam than what I used to. It is nice to have the facility to choose as to whether or not you want to block a person, but then I also feel that you may not be receiving everything that you should be receiving die to the restrictions

The downside of mimecast you still have to check the emails to allow the email to come through.

MimeCast is helpful because you get most important emails and all the junk, yes you will get it but you can read them later and not worry yourself much about them because now you get to focus more on your important mail. Mimecast is the best

I suppose Mimecast is quite efficient when blocking spam, however, it still puts other necessary emails on hold.
It also does get annoying when an email you send fails and you are only notified about it a week later. Outlook tells you immediately so why is Mimecast so delayed?
They need to fix a few things before I can give my views on it

I have to admit, I am enjoying the MimeCast now that it is up and running. My only wish is that we could get an app like this for our phones. With the amount of people trying to sell you something this would be an absolute must on a phone.

Mimecast is a great way to filter the important from the not so important. We all have to prioritise to get done what needs doing in a day and to have a programme to assist with that is extremely helpful- although one still has to look at the MimeCast email to establish what it is and whether to let it through or not.

MimeCast is new program for me as well. I also never worked with it before! Telling the truth I do not feel much difference, as soon as Mimecast can block e-mails with unnecessary information!

Mimecast is effective, however there are many times where it has blocked emails that aren't spam and are work related- I feel if that could get fixed it would be a good system but currently I keep needing to unblock work related emails.

I agree with Nicolle, in fact I feel like I am actually getting more spam including those from other people's accounts. I never use to have this problem, I now try and unsubscribe from these annoying sites but its like the spam does not come for 2 weeks and then starts again.

Natasha  said:

It a new system that i was not aware of until we received it, i am sure as well it will have other benefits to a company that receives over 5000 emails a day to help filter out the unwanted emails and much more

I can't say I've ever received spam on my work email but that could be because MimeCast does it's job too well.

Nicolle  said:

This is odd because I still receive high volumes of spam, this, despite the fact that I've tried to block the spammers by using this miracle MimeCast.

Jessica   said:

MimeCast is great because it asks permission to release an email that it has dubbed as 'spam'. Often, we miss essential emails because the blocking software has automatically thrown it into the spam folder and we would never know that we had ever gotten it!

Melissa  said:

MimeCast is helpful to block spam emails, but it's not very pleasant when you want to send out emails because it also blocks outgoing emails even if the email address is correct

Mimecast is very helpful when it comes to block the spam emails we all receive, also saves a lot of time instead of going through your inbox to find the important emails and figure out which emails are junk.

Jadine Richards  said:

Since we have started using Mimecast I have blocked a few pesky emailers and it has been helpful. Once you get over the initial "new thing" on the system thing , it is really rather helpful.

there's nothing like the feeling of blocking someone irritating. even better when you block them on all platforms. have a nice life, goodbye.
