I think it was a fantastic judgment in the North Gauteng High Court that former President, Jacob Zuma, must pay his legal fees. He has basically run a scorched-earth policy of trying to avoid ever getting to court in most of his cases for almost a decade, using taxpayers’ money, and it is about time he starts paying some of the legal costs himself. The Democratic Alliance had brought the case to set aside the agreement allowing Zuma’s defence team in the corruption case against him to be paid by the government and they were successful with the case. Of course, we can expect that Zuma will challenge that, because right now he has to return the money that the State has already paid for his pending cases. Apparently, the fees already paid by all of us as taxpayers already total between R15 million and R32 million.

A very fair judgement, let us hope the decision is upheld as the taxpayer cannot be held responsible for Zuma's behavior.

Its ridiculous that we as taxpayers had to bear the burden of Mr Zuma's reckless and corrupt behavior. It is a judgement that is long overdue and hopefully the legal fees will be enough to make Mr Zuma reassess the way he conducts himself and goes about his affairs.

WOW, amazing what our hard work pays for. Good judgement. It is about time he grows up and be treated like all other humans and not like he has golden feets. It annoys me to no end when we learn that taxpayers pay for stuff like this.

I agree, finally some sort of small victory was won here. Im sure the money he has to pay will in any case land in someone else's pocket. from one to the other. And im sure he can just sell two or three of his cars and it will be sorted.

It's so frustrating to know that we, the loyal tax payers, have been paying for these fees.

It's time he pays he's legal fees but it won't be for long because he has friends everywhere and will be helping him with his legal fees but then we shall wait and see how he tries to get him self out this one. When it come's back to paying back the money i don't see that part happening anytime soon or ever

This a step in the right direction! I'm glad that he is been held liable for this own legal fees. However, I'm sure that he is most definitely going to challenge that judgement.

I agree that Zuma should pay his own legal fees, he used our tax payers money to pay for his legal fees. He is not above the law, he has stolen so much already and now still wants to use our tax payers money to pay his legal fees. He needs to pay now.

Just a shame that so much of tax payers money has already been spent on his case. This money could have been used for greater purposes. He should have been paying his own legal fees from the beginning.
