E-books and traditional books

This picture, which I took at Sun City during the Nedbank Challenge, is a great example of E-books versus traditional books. The lady is reading an E-book and the man is reading a traditional book.

Nothing beats the beauty of a traditional book, especially when it sits in a library, but the E-book is certainly more portable, it is easier to hold when you are lying upside down in the grass and it is easier to read in bed at night. It will probably produce more profits ultimately for the authors as well, cutting out the printing process and possibly a few middlemen along the way.

Have to agree, I prefer the smell of books... the world is being swallowed by technology. I still prefer to go to the library or buying a book than using E-books. You dont have to worry about batteries dying etc. Before you know it everything 'traditional' will be out the window so enjoy it while it lasts.

I love E-books but nothing beats the smell of old books and sitting at a coffee shop, with a cup of coffee reading a traditional 'old' or new book :) just the environment and vibe awakens me from all the technology we have now-a-days.

For me, there is nothing like purchasing and enjoying a new book. I love the smell of books and must confess that I often choose a book based on the artwork on the front cover. I have over 500 books and do not believe I'll ever be tempted to purchase a Kindle.Bookshops are one of my favourite places to wile away the hours. Old habits die hard!

I am very ashamed to say that i do not read many books, but i would certainly read a lot more should i one day have the privilege of purchasing an IPad or Tablet. The traditional book may have the beauty about it, it is just more effective to have a tablet which doesn't take much space and yes, very portable.

I am not a big reader, but the E-book is definately more practical. However, if you're a fan of reading, I think that it is a beautiful image when someone has a book shelf and the beauty of the books are being "showed off".

Wonderfull devices. i have a samsung galaxy tab and use it all the time. Easier to carry than a laptop. E-books are wonderful. The book doesn;t get damaged and there are so many to download.

I actaully went into the istore on the weekend and must admit I am really impressed with the iPad, all its features are really so easy and it really has everything one would need...But like robyn says ,one day when im all grown up hopefuly i can get one :-).

I must admit though I would not be reading on the ipad as i am a lover of libary books and even my textbooks when studying. I prefer reading on paper not screen :-)

I think it's great :) One day when I'm grown up and have lots of money I'll definitely get myself an iPad or Tablet or whatever else is available and add E-books to it.
