Spending our money

It is one thing to charge appropriate tax and to pay it honestly, but it is of course another thing to spend it wisely and prudently. Taking three aeroplanes to accompany a State President on a trip to New York is ridiculous, even though one of the three planes only travelled halfway before turning back and the other two travelled the whole distance. It does appear that we seem to have some plane problems, when it comes to our President, but it is one thing to have a back-up plane but it is altogether another thing to have a second back-up as well!

One wonders sometimes whether this was not just a case of bad communication by government. For example, if the purpose was to test the planes or to train some pilots or staff in taking care of VIP’s, that would be easier to explain than trying to say you took two back-up planes! People are sometimes too apathetic about government spending, forgetting that ultimately it is money that was deducted from their salary!

It angers me insurmountably when I hear of these extravagent trips or spending spreas. This is hard earned money, money that we could have used for the needs of our own homes and families. Sometimes i wish we could keep the money from them until they learn to respect our money.

I really "love" the way our government spends our money. They are so irresponsible and seem to spend so much money without a care in the world. Imagine what would happen if everyone started spending money the way they do...

I agree with Gen. We are basically contributing towards this type of 'leisure' they are having and it keeps happening. I just always wonder...

I actually have nothing to say to the stupidity. Your country is already down-grading and we are robbed of our hard working money every month, but go ahead and live your selfish live. I have faith that one day this will come to an end, and that they will all pay for their actions.

I have to agree.

Paying a tax is a waste of money as it gets spent, it only pays for all the wrong things. It’s not helping to fix our roads and other infrastructure for example, it goes towards expensive cars, houses and taking a flight to go do shopping overseas. Really?’

This type of unnecessory spending relly upsets me. I wish our governemnt had more interest and care for some of the choices they makes and, stop and think about how it will affect our country in the long run.

This selfish behaviour is one of the biggest reason we in Fincial crisis all the time and owe other countries millions of rands.

It really annoys me to know that our money gets spend on such luxuriuos and expensive life styles for our politicians but when it comes to providing for the poor and job creation, they tend to slack and work on it but really not progressing.

It is not so much apathy as it is losing faith in the opposition parties to tackle governments corruption far more forcefully. In my opinion, all the opposition parties should constantly sit on governments head and pick everything they do to pieces. If the opposition are not happy with answers, bring it more to the publics attention, this will stand opposition parties in good stead come the next election and also make government realise that everything that is done will be scrutinized with a fine tooth comb.

i've given this a fair amount of thought. There can only be 1 reason for such frivolous wasting of money. The goverment have noticed the reckless spending of my share of my income, and are thus treating their share with the same disrespect!!!

Reading this really irritates me. Its so annoying to know our hard earned money gets spent on some of the things it does! Its ridiculous and its not only the President. I have the department of housing or something like that as my neighbour - not a word of a lie they made their house sooo big and still bought the vacant land next door to extend - on top of it their cars change every few months, from mercedes, to BMW, to Range rovers the works! They live in absolute luxery and where does that money come from?? OUR TAX MONEY! Its unfair and ridiculous! I enjoy my job but I wish I worked in government! Money is honestly carelessly spent!

Our president is more worried about the problems of the other countries than the one's we have in South Africa, he is always wondering about somewhere. Instead of staying in his country and solving all the problems it has, as well as making it a better place to live in.
