Pick ‘n Pay - Website Needs a Bit of Work

I do quite a lot of shopping online, and I worked at Pick ‘n Pay as a cashier when I was young. I would probably shop a little bit more with them online, particularly for household goods like chlorine etc which you can’t get from the Woolworths site if it were not for a few problems with their site.

Firstly, it is extremely hard just to find the online shopping portal, and one is essentially placed in a position where, for me to find it I typically have to do a search for a product, it then tells me I need to be shopping on online shopping, even though I am already logged in, and then gives me a link to use. I cannot understand why I would be logged into Pick ‘n Pay unless I was doing shopping because there cannot really be any benefit to me on the website, as it is not a new site, unless in fact I am busy shopping. It does not make sense that you log in, and cannot immediately begin shopping, but instead have to search all over the website for an online shopping link. The website is covered in references to “Smart-Shopper” and yet Smart Shopper is not online shopping, although a part of it appears to involve online shopping.

The website simply lacks the ease of use of a site like Woolworths and is extremely frustrating to use. Many years ago Pick ‘n Pay was a leader in so many ways, and it appears unfortunately that they have not kept up the pace in many respects.

I personally agree with Angelique I prefer to go shopping and get what I need and leaving with what I have bought.

However I love the option of purchasing your groceries online, you never know when you may not have the time.

I have never tried it but I know of an elderly lady and quite sickly too who used to live in my mother's complex. Her daughter lived very far from her and used to buy groceries for her mother on line from Pick'nPay every month and had it delivered to her mother's address once a month. In a situation like this its a lot of help to be able to make use of such a facility. It definately has its uses.

I have never had a problem with Pick n Pay shopping site, however, must say the novelty wore off after a while. I prefer going to the shops because there are often new gimmicks brought out that do not get shown on the website. I love trying out new things on the market - so website no longer for me.

I would also rather shop at the PnP it self then online I think it will take you a bit faster to run through the isles then to shop online and look for the products and if the site kicks you out you have to do it all over again. And if the site is not updated and you have to follow all sorts of links will frustrate me.

My mother used to make use of the online shopping facility, but then when they delivered the shopping, we would find that they would just grab anything, where as when you do your own shopping that you would look and choose what you wanted, quality-wise, not just any bag of squished tomatoes, or loaf of bread. and when it came to delivery, they werent always punctual. maybe each PnP is different , but i think i prefer to do the shopping myself.

I think its less trouble for myself going to Pick 'n Pay and getting groceries myself, then going through the trouble of online shopping and waiting.
