Sandton City

With the upgrades to Sandton City finished some time ago, it is now possible to see exactly how much extra space was added and how big the centre has become. It is quite clearly very easy to go for your Saturday morning walk to the centre, not repeat any routes and still get tired! It really competes, when it comes to size, with the malls in the UK or elsewhere.

I don’t believe we compete when it comes to clothing or prices – and particularly when you combine those two. The price of clothing in South Africa, for interior quality to what is available overseas, is exceptionally high. With the mall getting bigger, the Gautrain in the area and buildings going up everywhere, it is not hard to see that businesses that moved to the Sandton CBD about 10 years ago, made a fantastic decision and to realise that the traffic issues in the area are only going to get worse over the next two to three years.

It looks absolutely fantastic. The only downside to it is the terrible traffic.

The fact that they have a Zara sold me the new section. Now I can have the Candyfloss cocktails at café and then scoot over to Zara and max my credit card. Yay

I absolutely love Sandton City but not their prices! I also don't tend to go there unless I'm likely to do something else in Sandton as the traffic just annoys me - so does the parking. But I love eating there and having drinks. I enjoy seeing the interesting people more than anything. Very impressive mall.

I enjoy going to a mall where you have access to a variety of different stores to choose from. it is also convenient because you don't have to travel from one place to another.

Sandton City has always been one of the most prestigious malls in South Africa, even more so now after the R 1.7 billion rand upgrades.

I love shopping in Sandton City but prefer the restaurants in Nelson Mandela Square.

I love shopping in Sandton city as they really do have some of the best shops for clothing , shoes , food , books etc ,but the only thing that puts me off is the traffic , I would not be keen on working in Sandton at all.. the traffic just to get there is a nightmare.

The mall looks beautiful now that they are finished builing but I have to agree with Juliet. The restaurants are avarage and I believe that they can also be ridiculously overpriced. Many restaurants and other shops all know that because they are situated in Sandton City they can charge waht they want and people will pay.

Not really a mall person. I do find though that working through large malls tiresome especially if you have various shops to go into, Murphy's Law, they will be on opposite sides of the mall.

I agree. And definitely agree with Clothing Prices. Its madness. Clothing should be seen as a necessity, not a luxury. But seems to be a lot of necessities that are luxuries nowadays anyway.

I also feel our clothing prices are ridiculous. I've always liked Sandton City

I really love the new section of Sandton City for shopping but the restaurants are average. I prefer the restaurants in Fourways. I worked in Sandton for 8 months and the traffic was terrible....

The quality here is really good, I must agree. Sandton City really is a mall you go to for exercise. Another one in SA is Canal Walk in Cape Town. I think I was in that mall 4 or 5 times last year in December and I still didn't see all the stores. Lol.

I love shopping in Sandton City. They have a much bigger variety of shops and they are much bigger as well. But like you said, you get tired so quick from walking all over. It is definitely my favourite shopping centre to go to though.
