Game of Thrones

I have read quite often that Game of thrones is the top TV show of the moment.  It certainly is the most illegally downloaded program, with downloads of the latest episodes often dominating bit torrent sites like Pirate Bay.  As fast as I am on some new things, this is a series I really know nothing about.  I watched an episode the other day and what was clear was that a lot of money was spent on producing the series with big sets and great filming.  It’s a fantasy drama series which has won numerous awards but has also been criticized for excessive nudity and violence.

The episode I saw certainly was filled with action.  A sister confessed her love for her brother to her father and then went off to conduct her affair with him.  The same father was murdered a little bit later by another child of his, this time a dwarf.  I am not sure it always moves that fast, or half the cast won’t last more than 3 or 4 episodes but it certainly is filled with violence and dramatic story lines.  I also noticed that advertising during the show seems to sell well.  Every 10 or 12 minutes they break for another 4 minutes of advertising!  For those who are more familiar with the show let me know if that is a typical episode and what attracts you to it.  Have you seen it?

I started to watch it and went up to mid season 2 and lost interest. The first season is really good but that was it for me. It might also be the fact that I don't watch a lot of TV since my varsity days are over

I haven't watched this series and as an outsider it sounds kind of weird/disturbed.

This show is so addictive! It's easier to understand if one watches from season 1. I am so sad that we have to wait a full year for the next season!

This is definitely on my list to watch. Numerous people has told me to watch this as it is absolute the best.... even my mom.... I am not really into shows based in the old age but haven't received one bad comment about this show so I'll make an exception.

You have to watch this series from the start to follow the many stories. I am also reading the books by George R Martin. I saw an interview with the cast and how they commented on the wonderful places they go to shoot the series. I must say reading the books the series really follow the books some scenes are not shown, but you wont miss them. The writer although really like to kill of the most liked characters.

I am addicted to the series. What I love most about the series is the way the story changes, every time you think the hero is "the hero", something drastic happens to him/her and then the story takes a complete turn. I, also, love the fact that there are so many different stories within the story itself. Each family has a story of their own, even though there is one common goal, complete rule. My advise, don't watch now if you have not seen the first two/three seasons, hire the series and see how everything fits in.

I know that my friends are addicted to this show. I did watch the first episode of the first season in an attempt to find out what the fuss was all about it, but I found it quite boring.

I have been told that the it gets better in the second season and that the books are wonderful.

It is a brilliant series. The books are better. And it is true, the characters don't last too long, so it never does well to choose a favourite, because chances are they will die. I recommend it highly though. But buy the series, and watch it from season 1, otherwise the different houses and characters will be nothing more than a sister's relations with her brother while the dwarf does naughty things.

I have the Game of Thrones series but I have not had a chance to sit down and watch it yet. Everyone has begged and pleaded with me to eventually sit down and watch it but I am not sure how keen I will be on the show. My father and sister are completely addicted to it.

My brother and my mom is so hooked to this series, I watched one episode and I must say it is very disturbing and cruel, and I was really not impressed at all. Rather give me a comedy!

I have not watched this series, however, i have heard that once you start watching- you are HOOKED! Im not very interested in the whole "medieval times" thing, but family of mine who felt the same said they gave it a go and now love the show. Maybe ill watch it one day. But doesn't seem like a show that would grab my attention.

Yes... there are so many intertwined plots all happening at once that each episode is filled with numerous dramatic events. Just as soon as you get to know the character inside and out they're either imprisoned, sent or banished to some outlying land, kidnapped or killed - irrespective of whether they're what one would consider a main character. Thoroughly enjoying the series (including the violence).

I am addicted to Game of Thrones and definitely up to date! I am ready to read the books. I'm glad I already watched that episode. A typical episode like you said consists of a lot of nudity, violence, unexpected turns, sexual violence and over all a story line. The plot is basically about the seven kingdoms and I guess everyone wants to rule. Its almost like you are watching 7 different story lines from the 7 different kingdoms but in some way they are connected and all cross paths. It is quite interesting and I cant help but think have people really lived like that previously or is it all just make believe? I must admit, when it gets a bit weird then I zone out. Anyway I am #TeamKhaleesi Mother of Dragons! This show is brilliant and my favourite series!!!

I didn't want to watch it because the bit of one episode a watched over a year ago was so violent and graphic it disturbed me but when a family member that I never ever expected would watch it started raving about it I thought I would give it another go. The attraction to the show is that it really does have so many things happening in each episode and main characters are killed off all the time, you can never predict what will happen next. People who say it is too this and too that are blind to the fact that everything happening in this show is happening today too - people being murdered barbarically, people starving, war, affairs etc etc. Maybe I am just enjoying it because I am pregnant. I am enjoying a lot of things I wouldn't normally so perhaps my opinion is unreliable at this time.
