Stock Markets are very high

I have long advocated investing in the Stock Market, because it is best investment that has beaten inflation over the last 100 years or so and the returns from the Stock Market have generally been superior to property or bonds.  I would say though that I find the market very expensive at the moment and have been reducing my exposure to shares over the last 6 months.

If somebody is just starting on a month to month basis, there is of course no reason to stop and one’s situation depends entirely on how close one is to retirement or not.  Nobody can know how long a bull market can run, but this is now already the longest bull market in history and one has to wonder how long it will run.  The market has been pushed up by tax cuts for companies in America and no doubt once there is a trade deal between America and China the market will go up again, but I just cannot imagine what else, after that, can lead to it increasing much more in the next year or two.  Our local Stock Market has not done well for about 5 years, so one would hope that it would not fall when other markets fall, but unfortunately generally when America goes down the rest of the world goes down regardless of whether they were doing well before then anyway.

Investments, what does it take? Patience? Remaining Calm during the storm? Doing the homework? Seeking and asking for knowledge? It is all of these things. It is the ability to be diligent coupled with time. I admire those who can, as I cannot.

I don't know much about stock markets but I do know that it is risky and you better know exactly what you are doing.

I guess that is the risk of investment. Unfortunately for America at the moment there are an exceeding amount of factors which will impact on the stock market. The growth that America is experiencing now, albeit amazing, is unsustainable and some or other bubble will burst (just as it always does)

We have been affected by issues relating to both state capture and dishonest Ceo's. Look who benefited out of poor people's monies at VBS bank.

I personally do not follow the stock markets, but I have learned in my studies about the two most popular categories of stock and that is common stock and preferred stock.

I think that's the whole risk surrounding the market, the return is often almost unknown and you really just have to monitor certain moves closely to make accurate predictions and forecasts. Very stressful!

Stock markets always go up and down, its very risky if the people playing on it does not know what they are doing. Markets have certain trends and one needs to watch them very closely.

I do not know much about stock markets and to me it sounds much like a gamble. For someone like me who is fairly new to the labour market, stock markets and investments are not on the cards at the moment however, with proper research I would definitely like to give it a try in future.

I have been watching South African Markets for the last two and a half years and I can only say that it has been very rough year for South African stocks. And if America goes down, yes I would agree that us and the rest of the world would go down too!

I honestly don't know much about stock markets. I guess if you are willing to take a calculated risk then you ought to gain some big bucks or loose a lot of money really quick .

I can't say I know much about the stock market, I think it could be a good thing to try understanding for now, if you're not willing to take the risk yet. People who have intuition when it comes to judging what's good or bad is an interesting trait to have.

I don't know anything about stock markets or whatsoever. I would like to be more involved in stock markets but it's too much of a risk to take.

When I hear of the Stock Market I always think of the quote: "In investing, what is comfortable is rarely profitable." by Robert Arnott. It's all about calculated risks at the end of the day.

It's the risk you take. Like gambling, you win some you lose some. I think some people can get very addicted especially if you win big, but you have to invest a lot of time, investigate and now when to take you winnings and cut your losses. To think there are people who day in and night out sit and watch the market, it's a lot of time you have to invest. Not quite ready to take this risk yet.

I wish i was more up to date with how the stock market works. I still havent even seen the movie 'wolf on wall street'. I would imagine it is a gamble at the end of the day. As you never know what can happen to with shares value

I don't know a lot about the stock mark myself but it's definitely a risk but when everything is good it's great, I will most definitely look more into it.

I am definitely not one to get up with much Financial news but the basics. I do not follow the stock markets and do not like to gamble. I do hear on the news though Brexit and politics... and it just sounds too complicated and boring to me. Don't get me wrong, making money is never boring but as said i don't like risks or to gamble.

The stock market is very high at the moment to due economic factors and it will take a awhile to improve. Let’s hope not so long we have to wait

I must admit that I do not trust myself when it comes to investments and stock markets. I think it would be something worthwhile if one had the time to do proper research and follow the markets on a regular basis. For now I let Allan Gray handle the investments for me and even so I am still fairly conservative.

Investing in stock markets is a chance you must be willing to take. There will be Bulls and there will be Bears - it depends on all the factors such as political factors and economic performance.

I honestly do not know much about these things, finances is not my strong suit. However, your blog posts have been interesting to read and it is also interesting to see that even in the Stock Market America influences the world. In this case though, I'm not sure that it is a good thing.

I am not very clued up when it comes to trading stocks, etc. But I do know that investing could be risky, so it is better to go with the one that has been most rewarding. Hopefully it does not fall and if it does, lets hope it's not too much.
