Earthquake in Japan

The earthquake just off the shores of Japan followed by the tsunami, have wrecked havoc all over Japan, but it could be far worse if they were not such a disciplined, careful nation. I spent some time in Japan and I have always been impressed by their attention to detail, cleanliness as well as their strict rules that their society is run by, something that has always extended to their buildings and engineering requirements. If the same earthquake had struck any other country, you could be sure that fatalities would be far higher and one has to hope that there is no risk with nuclear problems with the power stations that have been damaged. It is certainly a wonderful country with fantastic, friendly people and one’s thoughts go out to them at a time of a terrible tragedy like this.

I am still not at rest about the whole earthquake/tsunami saga - I cannot shake the feeling that it is not the end and what effect this is going to have all over the world. The earth has moved something like 12-20cm, the whole island of Japan has moved by a couple of meters...., the "day-time" is affected... The moon will be closer to earth on 19th March...

There is no predictions or anything like that, I am just not at ease....

On the news they say that the Japanese are in a "state of panic" lining up for petrol. I had to laugh because they all seemed extremely calm, diciplined courteous towards each other even when they were told that there is no more petrol some still joined the back of the que hopping that maybe the attendant will make an exception. If it was South Africa they would be burning the pumps and each other because of shortages. Haiti,(spelling) they were looting shops and there was a lot of violence amongst the disaster.
