Evaporative cooling

I have been very impressed with an evaporative cooling system that we have put in at our offices. It is an eco-friendly way of providing cool air during summer whereby outside air is effectively cooled by water mist and goes through one’s office or home. It is extremely effective, when it comes to cooling, and apart from that, it seems to leave a much cleaner air but reduces allergies that we typically suffer from.

I found, since we installed it at our offices in our main building, that I’ve had less asthma attacks and allergy issues than ever before and why precisely that is, I am not quite sure, but it certainly seems to be a better system than normal air conditioning. The apparent drawback however is that it does not provide heating in the winter, so it can only really provide you with cooler air in summer.

As Genevive, explained it is hard to please everyone in a office block but we at Christies have wat we call a Zone kit, this enables you to direct air where you want air and close areas where there is none or less required for the Evaporative cooling systems.

Hi Michael,
As a registered installer, evaporative cooling is one of the fields we specialize in. I can shed some light on the allergies. The basic working involves cooling the air by filtering it through water. This result in a lot of dust and pollen getting caught in the water, and being washed away with the dump cycle around every 5 - 12 hours. And when your system is calculated correctly and gives you from 16 - 30 air changes per hour, it will make a huge difference to these results. Another advantage is that these systems in fact use 85% less electricity than conventional air conditioning.

I am so glad we got this system! You can feel the distance if you go outside and come back in. It keeps us cool and not as irritated :-) I absolutely love it!!

I am impressed with the system and I also love the fact that it leaves clean air, this is amazing.

I am impressed with the cooling system, however in an office with so many people, it is difficult to please everybody - some are cold and majority getting very hot, and vica versa. And sometimes you don't feel the cooling system at all. But all in all it is a good system.

The cooling system as long as it keeps us cool in summer is all we ask for. Winter is no problem, one can always keep oneself warm with coats and jackets but one needs a cooling system owing to the fact that you can only take off so much clothing.

It is a rather amazing system. Very efficient and as mentioned, easy on the sinuses. As for the heating, keeping the 'old' system for this purpose is ideal. Only one downside the evaporative cooling system, it's one fan speed for all offices and when this is too cold for some offices, they either turn it down and all other offices suffer or they switch off their zone and apart from the blizzard od papers in your office you literally freeze to death.
